Rainbow Skittles
On
this post, I will be showing how to make an awesome skittles rainbow
effect. You can also alternatively watch the video at the bottom of the
page to see how to do this activity. This is a great DIY skittles
experiment that parents can do with their kids and is a very colourful
science project that is great to watch! You can make a tons of designs
and a bunch of colourful combinations.
To make your rainbow skittles, you'll need:
• White Plate
White plate brings a good background when making the rainbow and you can clearly see the colours joining together.
• A pack of Skittles or M&Ms
• Jug of Hot Water
Hot water works best instead of cold water as the sugar in the skittles dissolves more quickly in the hot water rather than in cold water. This is due to their being more molecules in hot water which helps dissolve the skittles more quickly and the colours to come out very quickly as well.
To get hot water, open your hot water tap for 5 seconds and after that time, pour the hot water into a jug. A kettle won't be needed as you won't need boiling water. To check if you have hot water, hold your hand over the jug of hot water and if you can feel the heat radiate onto your hand, you have hot water. However, if you do the same method and you cannot feel any heat radiate on to your hand, then most likely you will have have cold or room temperature water.
To make rainbow skittles:
Open up your skittles and place them on your plate
Arrange your skittles all around the edge
